SIXTEEN AND OH! Celts Cap off Historic Season With Win At Colorado College

Men's Basketball capped off their historic season with a win at Colorado College 67-56. With this victory, St. Thomas finishes SCAC play undefeated, and is the second team in conference history to do so.

In the first half, the Tigers and the Celts looked even trading points back and forth. Two ties and three lead changes dictated the flow of the opening period. The difference was in the shooting though, as Colorado College nailed 50% of their shots from the floor against St. Thomas making 39%. This led to a 29 point performance powered by 12 points from Nick Anderson. When all was said and done at the half, the score was 30-29, in favor of Colorado College. 

In the second half, shooting woes plagued Colorado College as they struggled to generate much offense from the floor. Going 0-9 from beyond the arc, the Tigers shot just 33% from the floor. They also committed six costly turnovers. St. Thomas was able to take the lead and hold it for the remaining 11 minutes of the game, and got the bench involved with 21 points this period. 

Offensively, Nick Anderson had a stellar night with 27 points, and going a perfect 6-6 from the line. Joshua Sanchez also got involved with a team high four assists. Freddie Ricks III got involved on the defensive end with nine rebounds and three steals.

Up next, the 16-0 Celts await the SCAC Tournament. The team will have a first round bye as they await their opponent in the semi finals. With a trip to the NCAA National Tournament on the line, its going to be a fight to the finish! Follow UST Athletics for all scores and updates.
