Men's Basketball solidified the top spot in the conference with a 59-51 victory over Trinity University. After surviving a late run from the Tigers, the Celts would advance to 5-1 in SCAC play.

St. Thomas would get it done on both sides of the floor to open the game, flustering the Tiger offense while constructing an early 9-0 run, warranting a Trinity timeout.

While the Tigers would claw back into the contest, the Celts would maintain a 10-point buffer for the majority of the half. The Celts would hold Trinity scoreless for the final six minutes of the frame while tallying 13 unanswered points to waltz into the break with a 17-point advantage.

To open the second half, St. Thomas would slow down offensively but stayed strong on the defensive end. The Celts would hold onto a comfortable lead until a Trinity layup with 4:43 left in the contest would cut their halftime advantage to just nine. This bucket would spark the Tiger offense, as they would go on to cut their deficit to just three points with less than 90 ticks on the clock.

Andrew Adebo's strong finish under the basket followed by Joshua Sanchez put-back layup would be enough for the Celts to escape with an eight-point victory.

St. Thomas would hold Trinity to nearly 40 points under their scoring average for the season and would turn them over a season-high 26 times.

Christian Alaekwe would lead all scorers with 18 points while recording three steals on the defensive end. Andrew Nguyen would score in double figures for the seventh straight game (13 points) while grabbing five rebounds and recording four steals. Andrew Adebo would log a near double-double with nine points and 10 boards and Cameron Gims would continue to stuff the stat sheet with eight points, three blocks, three steals and three assists.

The Celts will yet again take on Trinity University next Friday in San Antonio, Texas.
