SIX AND OH! Men's Basketball Undefeated Heading into 2023

SIX AND OH! Men's Basketball Undefeated Heading into 2023

Men's Basketball wins a nail-biter versus the University of Dallas 74-70 as they keep their streak alive and stay undefeated in the conference.  Three Celts over 14 helped put away the Crusaders ending 2022 with a win.

Starting off in the first half both teams came out on fire as it seemed when the Celts made a bucket the Crusaders responded with a bucket of their own as St. Thomas had a small 10-8 lead early.  Back-to-back layups from Calvin Williams and a three from Zach Golaszewski helped add to their lead making it 21-10 at one point. However, when it seemed like the Celts started to run away with the game, the Crusaders kept responding and kept themselves within striking distance as St. Thomas headed into halftime ahead only 43-34.

Coming out into the second half St. Thomas started off cold with some early misses that would help Dallas climb their way back into the game. They got within three, with plenty of time to finish their comeback. Big three-pointers from Dallas shocked the Celts for a bit as it seemed to take a turn as Dallas would go out to a 67-62 lead. Right after, threes from Nick Anderson and Calvin Williams gave the Celts the spark needed for them to tie the game late in the half.  Big free throws from Zach Golaszewski iced the game and gave St. Thomas the win 74-70.

Offensively Calvin Williams led the team with 20 points as well as putting up eight rebounds and eight assists. Zach Golaszewski put up 16 points going 7-8 from the line and Nick Anderson scoring 14 points and going 3-7 from three.

Up next, Men's basketball heads to Hardin Simmons to finish their non-conference play on January 5th. Follow UST Athletics for all scores and updates.
