Men's Basketball Powers Past Pacific University

Men's Basketball Powers Past Pacific University

Men's Basketball would bounce back with a 13-point victory over Pacific University. Joshua Sanchez would log the double-double with a team-high 16 points and 15 rebounds.

The Boxers would rattle the Celts early, racing out to an 8-0 lead within the first two-minutes of the contest. Adjusting to the pace of play, the Celts would respond with eight unanswered points of their own to even the game up.

As the half continued, St. Thomas would slowly capitalize off the aggressive playing style of Pacific and would build a double-digit lead heading into the half. Calen Anderson would lead the Celts in scoring with nine points, followed by Freddie Ricks III with seven.

It would be all St. Thomas in the second half as they would hang 56 points on 52% shooting. After trading blows with Pacific for the opening seven minutes, the Celts would post 10 consecutive points, capped off by back-to-back triples from Andrew Nguyen, to distance themselves for the remainder of the game.

Juan Hood, Andrew Nguyen and Calen Anderson would all pitch in 13 points apiece. Hood would dish out a game-high six assists to go with his two steals. Nguyen would contribute in his 20 minutes off the bench, shooting 50% from behind the arc and going perfect from the charity stripe. Freddie Ricks III would hit the double-digit mark in scoring for the second consecutive game with 11 points. He would also record six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

This concludes the Celts road trip as they head back to Houston with a pair of wins. They will host University of Texas at Dallas on November 24th at 2:00PM in The JAAC.
