Celts Claim Sixth-Straight Victory

Celts Claim Sixth-Straight Victory

Men's Basketball continued with their winning ways in conference play after handling Austin College, 82-68.

St. Thomas would open up the contest with three-straight triples to jumpstart their offense. The Celts would keep the hot-hand and extend their early lead to double figures after just ten minutes of action. The 'Roos would string together stops accompanied by scores to cut their deficit to a workable number. Andrew Nguyen would answer with five consecutive points to end the half to put St. Thomas up eleven at the break.

The Celts would storm into the second half, rallying a 14-4 run within the first five minutes of the frame. With a comfortable Celt lead, Austin College would start to chip away, bringing the game to within 12 points. Three-straight Freddie Ricks III buckets with less than two minutes remaining would be enough to weather a late Austin College run and give the Celts their sixth consecutive win.

Freddie Ricks III would shoot fifty percent from the field and behind the arc, leading the Celts in scoring with 18 points in just 17 minutes of play. Providing another spark off the bench would be Adam Kanafani who would chip in 14 points and grab five boards.

The Celts will hit the floor again on Sunday, February 13th when they travel to Shreveport for a big conference matchup with Centenary.
