Philosophy

The University of St. Thomas Athletics Department supplements the institution’s educational mission by instilling in our student-athletes the core values of our University and fostering engagement in a diverse, collaborative community. We provide a holistic educational experience combining sportsmanship, competition, and academics; ensuring our student-athletes develop as whole people.

Mission Statement

Create a first-class athletic environment by recruiting, developing and retaining outstanding student-athletes who will maximize their potential intellectually, athletically, socially and spiritually during their time at St. Thomas

The mission of Intercollegiate Athletics is three-fold:

1. To provide an athletic opportunity for students who are pursuing an academic degree and positively impacting campus life for the university community.

2. To compete with integrity.

3. To integrate student-athletes participation within the University community.

Guiding Principles

These principles shall guide the administration and implementation of St. Thomas Intercollegiate Athletics.

1. Conduct an athletic department ethically within the spirit of the institution, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), and the NCAA Division III.

2. Provide a safe environment and protect the health of our student-athletes.

3. Provide the resources and leadership necessary for our student-athletes to succeed on the playing fields and in the classrooms.

4. Instill the core values of the University: goodness, discipline, knowledge, and community.
