HOUSTON – St. Thomas men's basketball team won its fifth consecutive game, beating Arlington Baptist, 95-74, Wednesday night in the Jerabeck Activity & Athletic Center.

The Celts (5-2) shot 47.8 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from three-point range. The Patriots (0-8) hit 38.2 percent of their field goals and 29.2 percent from long distance.

All 16 players who suited up for UST scored, paced by Orowo Eleyae (SR/Houston, Texas)'s 14 points and Nicholas Perez (JR/Katy, Texas)'s 13. Kennedy Jones had 17 points, and Jordan Williams 11 for ABU.

The Celts never trailed in the game, and led by as many as 17 in the first half. Keaton Shaw (JR/Mt. Belvieu, Texas)'s triple with 6:52 to play in the half gave UST a 31-18 lead. The Patriots cut it to 10 three times before Paris Marquez (SR/Atascocita, Texas) and Kennard Robinson (JR/Houston, Texas) hit back-to-back threes to extend the lead to 44-28 with 1:35 left in the half. After ABU scored on a second chance opportunity, Marquez buried another triple to give the Celts a 47-30 lead.

Arlington Baptist used a 7-0 run over a 1:41 span in the second half to draw within 10, but Paul Taulton (JR/Pearland, Texas) scored in the paint and then sank two free throws to push St. Thomas' lead back to 17 with 12:55 to go. The Patriots trimmed the gap to 11 twice – the second time with 7:56 left on the clock – but that's as close as it got, as the Celts ran away with it.

Kennard Robinson had nine points, seven assists and six rebounds. Sam Flores (SR/El Paso, Texas) scored nine points, and had three assists and a steal. Nathan Thormaehlen (JR/Katy, Texas) added eight points, six boards and a steal. Taulton had eight points and a steal. Shaw, Marquez and Christian Alaekwe (SO/Fresno, Texas) each scored six points.

The Celts were 15 of 36 from three-point range. The Patriots went 7 of 24.

St. Thomas will host Dallas Christian at 2 p.m. Saturday.
