Men's Basketball Falls to UT-Dallas

Men's Basketball Falls to UT-Dallas

Men's Basketball's second half comeback would fall just short against regional power, UT-Dallas.

The Celts would shoot 25 percent from the field and just six percent from behind the arc in the first half, digging themselves in an eight-point hole heading into the break. Freddie Ricks III would be St. Thomas' only consistent source of offense, posting 12 points.

Needing a spark to jump start their offense, the Celts would construct a 14-0 run to erase their deficit and take the lead within the first 7 minutes of the half. Junior forward Calen Anderson would account for eight of the 14 points in this swing, nailing a pair of three pointers.

The Comets would settle down and claw their way back into the contest with just under 10 minutes to play. With momentum swaying towards UTD, Adam Kanafani would drain his second triple of the game to knot things up at 63.

However, a late Comet three-pointer would push their lead to five with 30 ticks left on the clock. St. Thomas would answer with a three of their own, but the damage was already done, as the Celts would fall, 71-68.

Freddie Ricks III would lead the Celts in scoring with 19 points. He would also add five rebounds and three assists. Adam Kanafani would head St. Thomas' bench presence with 14 points and seven rebounds, six of which would come on the offensive end. Kanafani would record three steals and a pair of blocks as well.

The Celts will travel to St. Louis, Missouri next weekend for the Lopata Classic at WashU. They will open up the showcase with Hope College on December 3rd.
