Celts Power Past Centenary College, 68-53

Men's Basketball advanced to 12-2 in SCAC play after a hot-shooting performance over the Centenary College Gents. The Celts would shoot 50 percent from the floor and 48 percent from beyond the arc to secure a huge road win, 68-53.

For the fourth straight contest, St. Thomas would start off hot, nailing eight three-pointers in the opening half. Christian Alaekwe would score 12 of the Celts first 17 points, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Cameron Gims' would torch Centenary in the first frame, draining four triples as the Celts ballooned their lead to as many as 23.

While St. Thomas' offense would slow down in the second half, their defense would remain consistent, flustering the Gents. Holding Centenary to just under 40 percent shooting for the half while turning them over six times would allow for the Celts to cruise to their seventh straight victory.

Christian Alaekwe would lead St. Thomas' offensive efforts with 15 points. With the season slowly winding down, Alaekwe still leads the league in scoring at 19.0 PPG. Juan Hood would dish out a game-high five assists as well as chipping in 14 points in 28 minutes of action.

The Celts will have another quick turnaround as they travel to Seguin, Texas to face off with the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs on Tuesday, February 15th.
