HOUSTON – The Celts of the University of St. Thomas had five different players score in double-figures Tuesday as they defeated Arlington Baptist 99-71.

Kennard Robinson scored a game-high 16 points and Nathan Thormaehlen turned in a double-double performance with 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Celts, who remained undefeated with a 2-0 record.

Paul Taulton and Nathan Ghavidel came off the UST bench to score 13 points and 10 points, respectively for the Celts, while Josh Sanchez also chipped in 10 points for UST.

The Celts led for 38 minutes in the game, trailing only once when Arlington Baptist (0-7) took a 3-2 lead. Nine unanswered Celt points between the 6:24 and 3:35 marks of the first quarter gave the Celts a 40-29 advantage.

After taking an eight-point lead into halftime, the Celts pulled away for good when they started the second half on a 12-0 run to take a 59-39 lead. Sanchez scored six points during that stretch, capping the run with a layup with 16:41 remaining in the game.

The Celts shot 55 percent (40 of 73) from the field during the game. UST players were finding their teammates for baskets, as the Celts recorded 24 assists on their 40 field goals; Thormaehlen finished the game with six assists.

Brian Payton and Austin Arnold scored nine points apiece for the Celts. Arnold scored his nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range in five minutes of play; it was the freshman's first game as a collegiate player.

Cameron Gims chipped in four points for the Celts in addition to recording six steals and two blocked shots in the game.

The Celts return to action Saturday when they travel to NCAA Division I program Texas A&M–Corpus Christi for an exhibition contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

UST will play its next home game Tuesday, Nov. 26, when they host Dallas Christian College. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
