Men's Basketball Downs Centenary, 70-59

Men's Basketball claimed their third straight conference victory Sunday afternoon after a 70-59 decision with Centenary College.

In a closely contested first half which saw eight lead changes, the Celts would inch ahead late to take a three-point lead into the break. A 6-0 run, capped off by Freddie Ricks III's buzzer-beater would give St. Thomas momentum which would carry over to the second half.

In the final frame, the Celts would quickly stretch their lead to double digits after just six minutes of play. Centenary, however, would battle back and stay within striking distance. The St. Thomas' offense would answer every bucket the Gents logged, closing the game out with ball control and made free throws.

Christian Alaekwe would yet again have a strong performance, leading the Celts in scoring. This marks the fifth consecutive game he would head St. Thomas' offense. To go along with his 19 points, Alaekwe would also record a season-high three blocks.

Andrew Nguyen would chip in 15 points while going seven-for-nine from the charity stripe. He would also record six rebounds and a steal on the defensive end. Freddie Ricks III would log his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ricks III would also have a game high four assists.

St. Thomas advances to 4-1 in league play, picking up steam for their SCAC Championship game rematch with Trinity.
