Men's Basketball Edges UT Dallas 58-53

Men's Basketball faced the UT Dallas Comets ahead of Thanksgiving. In a tight contest, the Celts won a close one 58-53.

In the first half, the Celts and the Comets nearly went point for point. Neither team was able to generate a sizable lead, as the largest was St. Thomas with five, and both teams went on 5-0 runs proving that this was a close game. However, at the half, the 27-23 score was determined by points in the paint. St. Thomas had 14 and UT Dallas had 10, to help lead to the four-point difference on the scoreboard. Coming out of the half, It was a similar story as the Celts added 31 and the Comets added 30. However, St. Thomas was able to have an 11-point lead three minutes into the half, the largest lead of the game. This propelled them to an eventual 58-53 victory, as 17 key bench points and 14 costly UTD turnovers helped the Celts pick up their fifth win of the season.

Offensively, Zack Golaszewski led with 12 points, and Joshua Sanchez dished out four assists. Defensively, Andrew Adebo recorded nine rebounds and Freddie Ricks III had two steals. The bench came up huge for St. Thomas as they had 26 total points.

With this victory, men's basketball improves to 5-1. They wrap up their non-conference schedule against Concordia on the road this Saturday at 2 PM.
