Men's Basketball Defeats Southwestern, 67-57

Men's Basketball picked their fourth consecutive conference victory after downing Southwestern, 67-57.

The Celts would be in the driver's seat for the entirety of the first half but would fail to create any real separation in this low-scoring frame. Despite shooing 34 percent from the floor, St. Thomas would hold a three-point lead at the break behind Cameron Gims and Andrew Nguyen's game-high seven points.

The back-and-forth play would continue into the second half as both teams' offenses would start to take off. It wasn't until a three-minute spurt midway through the period that the Celts would gain the upper hand on the Pirates. During this time frame, St. Thomas would connect on five-of-six shots, three of which were from beyond the arc. The Celts would ride this hotstreak all the way until the final buzzer, securing a precious road win.

Christian Alaekwe would have a game-high 19 points, nailing five three-pointers. Alongside of his stellar shooting performance, Alaekwe would grab a team-high seven boards. Adding 15 points, three assists and three steals would be Andrew Nguyen, while Cameron Gims would continue to dominate on both ends of the ball with 11 points, six rebounds and four steals.

The Celts will be back in The JAAC on Wednesday as they face off with Southwestern.
