Men's Basketball Takes Season Opener, 64-54

Men's Basketball marched into Marshall, Texas and defeated East Texas Baptist University, 64-54.

 

Christian Alaekwe would lead the Celts in scoring, posting 13 points while shooting 44% from the field. Cameron Gims and Juan Hood would each chip in 10 points of their own in tonight's outing. Gims, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, would pick up where he left off logging three steals and three blocks.

 

The bench for St. Thomas would come up big, outscoring ETBU's bench 27-9. Calen Anderson would provide a spark in his 20 minutes of play, recording nine points along with his team-high 12 rebounds. Junior guard, Zack Golaszewski would score eight points, going four-for-five from the field, providing timely scoring for the Celts down the stretch.

 

In a contest that saw multiple lead changes, St. Thomas would display its veteran leadership, grabbing the road victory.

 

The Celts will return to action Saturday, November 13th for their home opener against Arlington Baptist. Prior to tipoff, the Men's Basketball program will be revealing its 2020 and 2021 championship banners.
