Celts Rout Austin College 97-57

In their first matchup of a back-to-back against the Austin College Kangaroos, the Celts had a convincing victory on the back of an explosive offensive output. The Celts shot 53% on the game and 39.4% from deep, hitting 13-three pointers.

 

The Celts came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, jumping out to an early 35-15 lead fueled by electric transition play including three dunks in a span of five minutes. Austin Arnold continued to pour it on, hitting four of the Celts eight 3-pointers in the first half. The Celts shot 65.6% from the field and 50% from 3 in the first half, led by Christian Alaekwe with 13 points. Austin Arnold and Adam Kanafani both put in 12 points of their own. The ball movement of the Celts was key in their offensive explosion, assisting on 16 of their 21 made baskets. After a dominating first half of basketball, the Celts took a 56-29 lead heading into halftime against the Kangaroos.

 

The Celts picked up right where they left off to begin the second half, while also tightening up on the defensive end. They held the Roos to only six points in the first eight minutes of the second half, allowing their lead to quickly balloon to 40 points. The Celts coasted to the win, finishing the game with a 97-57 win.

 

Christian Alaekwe led the charge for the Celts, scoring 18 points and grabbing 8 boards. Adam Kanafani posted yet another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Austin Arnold caught fire from deep and contributed 15 points on 5-7 shooting from behind the arc. Zack Golaszewski also reached double figures chipping in 10 points.

 

The Celts will see the Roos again tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 PM for the second game of their weekend double header.
