Career Night from Calvin Williams Propels Celts Past Centenary

Men's Basketball got back on track picking up a win against SCAC rival Centenary this Tuesday night. In a back-and-forth game with the Gents, the Celts ultimately came out on top 54-50.

In a battle for the top spot for the SCAC, neither team wanted to let the other take the lead. Five ties and seven lead changes ultimately dictated the flow of the game and the close final score. In the first half, the Celts were able to get key possessions to prevent any Centenary momentum powered by 22 rebounds. Yet, 11 turnovers proved costly as the Gents capitalized on Celt mistakes. This led to the first-half score being 27-25 in favor of Centenary.

In the second half, the Celts shot an impressive 50% from the floor and were able to take a lead with just five minutes remaining. Calvin Williams had an impressive 16 point performance this half to help the Celts take control of the game and secure their seventh SCAC victory to keep them atop the standings.

Calvin Williams IV put on an offensive clinic scoring his career-high 26 total points in the game, while Zach Golaszewski dished out four assists. Defensively, Calen Anderson notched seven rebounds, Andrew Adebo had two steals, and Angel Johnson blocked two shots.

Up next, the Celts return home to the JAAC to face Colorado College in SCAC play. Support your Celts this Sunday 1/15 at 2 PM!
