Men’s Basketball tramples Trinity with a 77-63 win at home

Men's Basketball won a hard-fought game against Trinity 77-63 to start 2-0 in conference play. Explosive offense from the Celts in the first half helped lead St. Thomas over Trinity to improve their record to 8-1.

Opening up the game, both teams start on fire from deep as they quickly go back and forth hitting quick threes as the Celts are able to take an early lead 14-9. Back-to-back threes from Calvin Williams IV and Nick Anderson helped push the Celts to a 10-4 run stretching their lead to 27-15. St. Thomas would get a hot hand as they shot 5-9 from the field kickstarting a 19-7 run and pushing their lead out of reach 46-22 at the half. Out of halftime, both teams would jump out of the box on fire as they would trade shots, but threes from Nick Anderson and Freddie Ricks III helped keep their lead safe from the Tigers. The Celts offense slowed down a bit to run the clock, but the Tigers took advantage of this and start to chip away at their lead bringing their lead down to as close as nine. The Tigers' late comeback would fall short as the Celts proved too strong for them as they would get six quick points from Calen Anderson and Calvin Williams IV ending the game 77-63.

Offensively Calvin Williams would lead the Celts with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, Calen Anderson had 15 points, and Freddie Ricks logged 13 points and seven rebounds. Notably, Nick Anderson would score nine points shooting 75 percent from three and Zack Golaszewski scored nine as well going a perfect 6-6 from the line.
