Celts Finish Third at SCAC Women’s Golf Championship

WHITNEY, Texas – The University of St. Thomas Women's Golf team closed out the 2024 SCAC Championship with a strong final round to secure a third-place team finish at +178 overall.

After sitting in fifth place at the end of round two, the Celts rallied on the final day, posting their best team score of the tournament with a +48. The performance helped them leapfrog two teams and end the event on the podium behind champion Trinity (+110) and runner-up Southwestern (+157).

Leading the charge for St. Thomas was Emma Cook, who saved her best round for last. She carded a +7 on day three to finish 7th overall at +35, making her the top Celt on the leaderboard. Cook's consistency throughout the season was once again on display as she anchored the team's final push.

Leah Torres continued her impressive bounce-back from a tough opening round. She added a solid +13 in round three to finish tied for 11th at +46, gaining key ground over the final two days.

Cameron Frazier wrapped up her tournament tied for 15th at +50, while Regina Garcia Perez followed with a final-round +15 to land at +54, placing her in 19th. Rounding out the lineup, Xiadani Islas posted her best round of the week on day three with a +13, jumping into 20th at +55.

The third-place finish marks a successful end to the season for the Celts, who battled through a competitive field and showed steady improvement throughout the championship.

The Celts now look ahead to the offseason with momentum and valuable experience to build on for next year season
