Women's Golf began play at the SCAC Championships this Monday morning. After the first round of action at Riverhill Golf Club, the Celts sit in third place behind Southwestern and Trinity. 

Leading the Celts was sophomore Trinity Le who currently is in sixth place after firing an opening-round score of 79 (+7). Le had 10 pars and a birdie on hole four to keep her among the top. Also in the top ten was fellow Sophomore Emma Luna. Luna carded a round one score of 81 (+9) after leading the Celts with 12 pars to finish tied for ninth. Rounding out the top three for St. Thomas was senior Myra Truong. Truong finished sixteenth place at 85 (+13) and had a team high three birdies to go with five pars.

Also competing was freshman Regina Perez who was tied for 17th place. Perez fired an 86 (+14), and logged a scorecard that included six pars and ten bogeys. Also tied for 17th was senior Eden Hall. Also at 86 (+14) Hall had six pars and a birdie to keep St. Thomas competitive. Lastly, Juliana Hudman fired a 92 (+20) to finish tied for 26th as she had five pars and eight bogeys.

Notable Stats: 

• Myra Truong leads the tournament in birdies with three total

• Emma Luna is second overall in pars with 12, just one behind first place

• Eden Hall and Trinity Le are fourth overall on par three holes with a scoring average of 3.25

• Emma Luna is third overall on par four holes with a scoring average of 4.30

• Myra Truong and Emma Luna are third overall on par fives shooting +1 and a scoring average of 5.25

With all scores combined, St. Thomas had a team score of 331 (+43) and is nine strokes behind second place.
