Kerrville, Texas — The University of St. Thomas women's golf team fired a 26-over par 314 and are in 2nd place at the Schreiner Spring Shootout.
Freshman Emma Koch carded a new personal best in round one. Her 5-over par 77 included three birdies: the third most in the field. She sits T2 in the 40 player field and is only five back of the leader.
Junior Emma Luna fired a 5-over par 77 and is T2 alongside her teammate Koch. Luna's round included four birdies: tied for the most birdies on the day. Tomorrow, she goes for her second collegiate win as she sits just five shots back of the leader.
St. Thomas' 26-over par 314 is the women's third lowest round of the year: They are three strokes out of first place held by California Lutheran University (311). The Lady Celts had 12 birdies on the day – best in the entire field. Four birdies came on one par 5 – the 476-yard par 5 7th hole.
