Celts in Second After Day One of Alamo City Classic

SAN ANTONIO, TX—The St. Thomas women's golf team traveled to San Antonio, TX, to Tee Off their second tournament in the fall at the 2024 Alamo City Classic, hosted by Trinity University. The tournament is being held at Trinity's home course, The Quarry Golf Club. The Celts seem to be making themselves at home, too.

After Day One, the Celts are in second place with a team score of 315, trailing Trinity by 8 strokes. The hosts lead the tournament with a score of 307.

St. Thomas showed strong depth across the board, with multiple golfers in contention. Leading the charge for the Celts, Cameron Frazier and Leah Torres both posted scores of 78 (+6), placing them t-5th individually. Emma Cook finished close behind with a round of 79 (+7), securing 8th place. Xiadani Islas is not far behind at +8 (80), while Emma Koch rounded out the team with an 85 (+13)

The battle at the top is heating up as the teams prepare for the final round, with the Celts aiming to make up the ground they need to challenge Trinity for the top spot. Despite the challenging course and hot conditions, the Celts showed resilience, creating plenty of opportunities throughout the round. Their consistent approach helped them stay competitive against a challenging field, positioning themselves well for a potential Day Two push.

LeTourneau sits in third at +39 and is within striking distance, but the Celts have put themselves in a position to challenge the leader.
