WHITNEY, Texas – The University of St. Thomas Women's Golf team opened play at the SCAC Championship with a solid showing, finishing third overall after the first round of the three-day tournament at White Bluff Golf Course.
As a team, the Celts posted a +69 on the day to sit behind Trinity and Southwestern, both of whom came out strong in Round 1.
Leading the charge for St. Thomas was Emma Cook, who carded a +12 to place 6th overall in the individual standings. She was followed closely by Cameron Frazier, who finished the day in 13th place with a +16.
Regina Garcia Perez sits in a tie for 16th after shooting a +18, while Xiadani Islas and Leah Torres rounded out the team scoring in 27th and 31st respectively. Each golfer will look to climb the leaderboard as the tournament continues.
The Celts now turn their attention to Day 2 of the SCAC Championship with the goal of gaining ground and positioning themselves for a strong finish.
