Women's Golf Finishes Third at SCAC Championships

Women's golf concluded their 2023 Spring Season at the SCAC Championships this Tuesday afternoon. After the final round of golf action at Riverhill, the Celts finished third place with 672 total strokes. 

Sophomore Emma Luna jumped into the top ten after improving her score to a 80 (+8) in round two. Luna had ten pars in the final round of action to lock in seventh place. Not far behind was Trinity Le at 11th place. Le's scorecard showed an 81 (+9) and included six pars and seven bogeys. Freshman Regina Perez showed poise at her first SCAC tournament firing a final round of 84 (+12). Improving her previous score, Perez had six pars and a birdie on hole six to jump three spots. 

Senior Myra Truong finished eighteenth place after she scored an 88 (+16). Truong's scorecard included six pars and eight bogeys in the final round. Juliana Hudman improved her day one score to an 89 (+17) in the final round. Hudman had four pars and had the team high in birdies on the day with two- on holes seven and fourteen. Eden Hall rounded out the St. Thomas as she fired a 96 (+24) in round two. Hall had four pars and eight bogeys to round out her day at the SCAC championship. 

With the all scores totaled up St. Thomas finished with a team score of 672 (+96) to lock in third place. Trinity University won the tournament with a team score of 627 (+51) and Southwestern University got second with 645 (+96). The Celts had their placement from last season where they also finished third place. 

Notable Stats:

  • St. Thomas finished third overall on par four holes firing a scoring average of 4.76 (+91)

  • Trinity Le shot second overall on par three holes at just two over across two rounds and Eden Hall shot third overall on par three holes at three over

  • Emma Luna fired a scoring average of 4.35 on par four holes, good for second overall

  • Myra Truong tied for second overall in birdies with three in two rounds

  • Emma Luna was second overall in pars with 22 total

At the conclusion of this tournament, women's golf concludes their season. In just their first year as a part of NCAA Division III, the program made new strides, and even hosted a home tournament. Thank you to the graduating seniors for their efforts for this program and the impact they made at St. Thomas!
