Celts Take Fourth at Concordia's Linda Lowery Invitational

AUSTIN – The University of St. Thomas women's golf team gave a solid showing in the team's final tuneup before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship, as the Celts competed at the Concordia Texas' Linda Lowery Invitational.

At the Grey Rock Golf Club, the Celts placed fourth out of eight teams at the event with a two-round score of 693, six strokes behind NAIA opponent Our Lady of the Lake. UST finished ahead of NCAA Division III teams Hardin-Simmons and LeTourneau, NAIA program Houston–Victoria, and two-year institution Blinn College.

Trinity Le turned a top 10 performance for the Celts, shooting 25-over-par 169 for the two-day event. She finished in a tie for seventh place out of 49 competitors.

A sophomore from League City, Texas, Le led the event after shooting a 77 during Sunday's first round. She was one of only three players to card a round under 80 for the duration of the event.

UST's Juliana Hudman and Alyssa Goins were among the field's top 20 individuals. Hudman finished tied for 12th after carding rounds of 87 and 84 for a two-day score of 171. Goings finished tied for 17th with a two-day score of 174 (86 and 88).

Myra Truong rounded out UST's team score with a two-day score of 179. She shaved 11 strokes off her Sunday round by carding an 84 Monday.

Concordia Texas won the event with a two-day team score of 659.

The Celts return to action Monday, April 18, when they begin play at the SCAC Championship. The two-day event will be held at the Vaaler Creek Golf Club in Blanco, Texas.
