Celts Tied for Second After First Day of SCAC Tournament

BLANCO, Texas – The University of St. Thomas women's golf team concluded the first day of competition Monday at Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship tournament.

At the Vaaler Creek Golf Club, UST finished Monday tied for second place with Southwestern (Texas), having turned in performances totaling 328 in the opening round. The two teams are only five strokes behind the leader Trinity (Texas).

The Celts were led Monday by Trinity Le's five-over-par 77. The sophomore from League City, Texas (Clear Creek) carded the third-lowest individual round, two strokes behind Trinity's Kiona Hsiu and a stroke behind UDallas' Kimberly Burch.

UST's Myra Truong was also among the event's Top 10 on the leaderboard, having finished the first round tied for sixth with a score of 82. Alyssa Goins finished the day tied for 11th with a score of 84, while Emma Luna rounded out the Celts' team score with an 85.

Courtney Krause (90) and Juliana Hudman (97) are also competing for the Celts.

Le and Truong both carded birdies on the course's 4th Hole, a 432-yard, par-5 hole. Truong also birdied the 9th and 12th holes, both of which are par-3's.

The Celts will conclude the SCAC Tournament on Tuesday. The tournament's final round will feature live scoring.
