Whitfield, Ellis, and McGee Make All-SCAC List

The SCAC Announced its All-Conference listing this afternoon. Voted on by the league's Head Coaches and Sports Information Directors, the Celt Women's Basketball Team received three All-SCAC honors.

Macie Whitfield, Nia McGee, and Ravyn Ellis all received honorable mention nods across all teams.

Macie Whitfield shone as a dynamic player of St. Thomas this season, demonstrating strength on both offense and defense. Despite being a freshman, her impact was undeniable, ranking 26th in points with 8.6 per game and 23rd in total points with 138. Her impressive shooting percentage of 45.8% secured her 5th place in the SCAC. Notably, she showcased her skills in crucial matchups, achieving double figures in scoring eight times and delivering standout performances with multiple blocks and steals in three games. Additionally, her defensive presence was felt, as evidenced by her 15 blocks, which placed her 12th in the SCAC. 

Memorable highlights of her season include a remarkable 26-point game with a 90% shooting accuracy, coupled with stellar contributions in 4 rebounds and 4 steals against top-seeded Trinity, as well as a dominant 21-point performance, complemented by 6 rebounds, a steal, and 2 blocks, in the closing game against Schreiner.

In her 23 appearances for the Celts, Nia McGee epitomized versatility, showcasing her multifaceted skill set on the court. With an average of 8.6 points per game, she claimed the 20th spot in the SCAC, tallying a total of 197 points, which ranked her 26th in the conference. Renowned for her prowess in ball control, Nia demonstrated her dominance on the boards, ranking 11th in rebounds with an average of 5.3 per game. Additionally, her defensive prowess was evident as she secured the 6th position in steals per game with an impressive average of 2.0, totaling 45 steals, which placed her 7th in the SCAC. Furthermore, her contribution on the glass was notable, as her 122 rebounds earned her the 12th rank in the conference.

Ravyn Ellis emerged as the offensive linchpin for the Celts this season, leading the team in scoring with an average of 9.5 points per game, a feat that earned her the 17th rank in the SCAC. Her scoring consistency was evident as she reached double figures in an impressive 11 games. Additionally, she showcased her efficiency at the free-throw line, boasting a stellar 81.4% shooting accuracy, placing her third in the SCAC in this category. Ravyn's shooting prowess extended beyond free throws, as she ranked 17th in the conference with a shooting percentage of 37.1% and accumulated a total of 208 points, securing the 22nd position in the SCAC. Defensively, Ellis proved to be a formidable force, ranking 8th in steals with 1.9 per game and 9th overall with a total of 42 steals, further solidifying her impact on both ends of the court.
