Celts Claim First Victory of the Season

Women's Basketball grabbed their first victory of the season after a convincing performance over Arlington Baptist. The Celts would dominate the Patriots en route to a 75-61 decision.

 

St. Thomas would open up the contest firing from deep, converting on 50% (4-8) of their three-point attempts. Hayden Morin and Alexya Castillo would combine for all four makes this quarter as the Celts would jump out to a 13-point lead.

 

In the second quarter, St. Thomas would lock in defensively holding Arlington Baptist to just seven points while shooting 16% from the field.

 

For the final twenty minutes, the Celts would continue to build onto their lead and fluster the Patriot offense, turning them over 11 times. To put the nail in the coffin, Oliva Anga would explode for six points, three rebounds and a pair of steals in the fourth quarter.

 

Anga would log a team-high 15 points to compliment her nine rebounds off the bench. Micayla Hamilton would chip in 12 points, while Alexya Castillo would follow behind her with 10.

 

Women's Basketball will hit the road for a nine-game road trip, kicking off with Houston Baptist on Sunday, November 14th. They will return to The JAAC on December 31st when they host Schreiner University.
