Women's Basketball tipped off their season against the University of the Southwest. In a hard-fought close nit contest, the Mustangs pulled away late to win 75-64.  

The first half the Celts wasted no time making their presence known. Scoring the first points of the season for St. Thomas, Alexya Castillo made a three-pointer just five seconds in. Following this, the Mustangs went on a 12-2 run to put the Celts down 12-5. From there, both teams traded points back and forth, but UST still found themselves playing from behind. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 23-16 in favor of Southwest. Then in the second quarter, the Celts went outscored the Mustangs 14-11, highlighted by a seven point quarter from Hayden Morin. With this the Celts went into the locker room down just 34-30. 

Out of the half, the Celts fired with back-to-back threes from Hayden Morin and Ravyn Ellis. With the score knotted up at 36 apiece, the game seemed to restart as both teams pushed transition to see who would break first. After trading points back and forth, the game tied multiple times this quarter as neither team was willing to give an inch. However a late foul from St. Thomas gave Southwest the two-point advantage at the end of the third 49-47. Then in the fourth quarter, the Mustang defense was tight for the first five minutes and limited the Celts to just three points. However, down 60-50, a 4-0 run by St. Thomas forced Southwest into a crucial time out to stop the bleeding. Their defense continued to show toughness as they limited the Celts to just six points from that point. As the clock winded down Southwest secured victory 75-64.
