SCAC Dub! Women's Basketball takes down Centenary 75-66

SCAC Dub! Women's Basketball takes down Centenary 75-66

Women's basketball won another SCAC matchup taking down the ladies of Centenary this Tuesday night. 27 fouls from Centenary as well as outstanding offensive play gave St. Thomas their second SCAC victory of the season.

In the first half, the Celts and the Ladies went point for point. Neither team was willing to give an inch as the stats were almost identical at the end of the half. Powered by an eight point half from Ravyn Ellis, St. Thomas found themselves deadlocked with Centenary at 35 points apiece. The Celts outrebounded the ladies 20-19, yet Centenary made up for it with 9 to 7 in steals.

In the second half, the Celt bench came alive with 34 points to add to the score. This helped the Celts jump to as large as a 12-point lead with seven minutes remaining in the game. Centenary also committed 17 fouls across two periods, to give St. Thomas leverage at the free-throw line. Proving costly, St. Thomas was able to add 15 to an already impressive point total. Then as the clock winded down, any chance at a Ladies' comeback was halted by a large Celt lead, and St. Thomas picked up their second SCAC victory 75-66.

Offensively, two Celts were in double figures, Ce'Briaya Bell dropped 15 points and back from injury, Micayla Hamilton notched 12. Bell and Hamilton also tied for the team-high four rebounds with Lauren Vela and Nia McGee. Finally, Hamilton kept herself busy dishing out three assists, tied with Amber Bourgeois

Up next, the Celts return home to the JAAC to face Colorado College in SCAC play. Support your Celts this Sunday 1/15 at 12 PM!
