Women's Basketball Falls to Howard Payne

Women's Basketball Falls to Howard Payne

Despite outscoring Howard Payne 39-28 in the second half, Women's Basketball would fall in a 65-62 nail biter.

After a closely contested first quarter, the Yellow Jackets would double up the Celts in the second period to head into the break with 12 point advantage.

However, the Celts were able to claw themselves back into the contest behind a seven-point third quarter from Eneily Rodriguez. With the game nearing its conclusion, St. Thomas would make one final push to hedge the Yellow Jacket lead. Unfortunately, Howard Payne would squeak by with a three-point victory.

Micayla Hamilton had yet another impressive performance. She totaled 18 points to go along with two rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block for St. Thomas. Complementing Hamilton was junior Eneily Rodriguez, who was all over the place offensively and defensively on Sunday. Rodriguez garnered 13 points, seven assists, three rebounds, and a whopping five steals.

Women's Basketball will open up conference play on December 2nd as they travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado to face off with Colorado College.
