Women's Basketball Edged by Crusaders in Close Battle

Women's Basketball fell in a close battle versus the University of Dallas 60-54. Three Celts pushed over 13 points, yet it still wasn't enough as the Celts fell in the final seconds to the Crusaders.

In the first half, Dallas came out firing as they started the game with an 8-0 run in an attempt to put the game away. However, back-to-back shots from Ce'briya Bell and Nia McGee put the Celts back into the game.  The Crusaders and Celts traded a couple of baskets as they would close the quarter with the score 13-10. The second quarter started with the same energy as both teams stayed on fire continuing to run up the score, but back-to-back threes from Dallas would give them some space to work as they would go into the half-up 29-22.

Coming into the third quarter the Celts began their comeback with huge buckets from Ravyn Ellis and Nia McGee. This would have the Celts breaking down the Cursaders lead as they only trailed 40-39 as the third quarter was coming to a close.  Headed into the 4th the Crusaders held onto their lead by hitting big three-pointers increasing their lead to 10.  As St. Thomas attempted another comeback the lead proves to be too large as time expired the Celts fell 60-54.

Offensively Nia McGee led the team with 14 points and Ravyn Ellis and Ce'Briya Bell both tacked on 13 points.

Up next, St. Thomas heads to Louisiana to take on Centenary on Tuesday, January 10th at 5:30 pm follow UST Athletics to get live updates on the game.
