Women's Basketball picked up their first win of the season against Birmingham Southern here at the JAAC 84-68. With a strong showing on both sides of the ball, St. Thomas had three players with over 10 points and forced 31 turnovers. 

St. Thomas wasted no time getting on the board early as they scored the first two points of the game. This forced Birmingham Southern to play from behind since the opening tip. The Celts extended their lead to as large as 12-4, but a late Panther run saw them tie the score 12-12. From there, Birmingham Southern struggled to convert any baskets as the first quarter saw the Celts up 24-16. In the second quarter, both teams went point for point early, until the score tied at 38 apiece, when a St. Thomas foul gave Birmingham Southern two free throws and a converted layup. From there, the Panthers took a one-point lead into the half 41-40.

The second half was started with a quick St. Thomas bucket from Nia McGee gave the Celts the 42-41 lead. From there, a six point run gave the Celts the cushion they needed to take control of the game. St. Thomas never looked back after they were able to defend Birmingham Southern's press to try and win key possessions to get back into the game. As the clock winded down, the Celts picked up their first win of the season 84-68. 

Freshman Taytum Poppe had a strong showing this game recording 16 points and notching four rebounds. Hayden Morin played a stellar game with 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals to get it done on both sides of the ball. In addition, Sydnee Smith was automatic, shooting a perfect 100 from the floor with 11 points.
