Women's Basketball Escapes Crusaders in 52-50 Victory

In a closely contested women's basketball match, St. Thomas (Tex.) secured a hard-fought victory over Dallas with a final score of 52-50. The game was characterized by strong defensive performances from both teams, and the outcome hung in the balance until the final buzzer.

St. Thomas got off to a solid start, building a lead in the first quarter with a score of 14-6. Dallas, however, mounted a comeback in the second quarter, outscoring St. Thomas 19-10 and closing the gap to just three points by halftime.

The third quarter saw St. Thomas regain momentum, outscoring Dallas 18-7. Macie Whitfield played a crucial role for St. Thomas, contributing points and rebounds, ultimately finishing with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Audrey Hernandez and Nia McGee also played significant roles, scoring 9 points each.

Dallas fought hard in the fourth quarter, making a late push to narrow the gap, but St. Thomas managed to hold on for the narrow victory. The defensive efforts of both teams were evident, with St. Thomas securing 32 rebounds compared to Dallas' 28.

Ultimately, St. Thomas demonstrated resilience and effective teamwork to secure the win at home. The closely contested nature of the game highlighted the competitive spirit of both teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).
