Women's Basketball Defeats Centenary, 56-44

Women's Basketball secured their first conference win with a 12-point victory over Centenary College. Olivia Anga would lead the Celts in scoring with 21 points and would flirt with a double-double, grabbing nine rebounds.

Despite trailing in the first quarter, the Celts would outscore the Ladies in every frame to close out the contest. A Sydnee Smith three-pointer with three minutes left in the half gave St. Thomas their first lead, which they would hold for the remainder of the game.

The Celts would stretch their three-point halftime advantage to double digits after doubling the Ladies offensive output in the third quarter. Anga's put-back layup with time expiring granted St. Thomas a comfortable 12-point lead heading into the final frame.

Centenary had no luck in sparking a comeback as the Celts would answer every run made by the Ladies. After holding Centenary to 25 percent shooting from the floor in the second half, St. Thomas would run away with a 56-44 decision.

Jade Evans would record her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 17 rebounds. The junior forward would dominate the paint, logging a pair of blocks as well. Adriana Chavez would fill the stat sheet with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

The Celts will return to action on Thursday when they host Trinity at 8:00PM.
