Women's Basketball Gets Second Straight Win Against Birmingham Southern

On December 17, 2023, the St. Thomas (Tex.) women's basketball team secured a solid 60-45 victory over Birmingham Southern, improving their season record to 4-6 and maintaining a 2-1 standing in the SCAC. The game showcased a balanced effort from St. Thomas, with strong contributions from multiple players.

The first half saw a closely contested battle, with St. Thomas holding a narrow 22-20 lead at halftime. However, the third quarter proved to be the turning point, as St. Thomas surged ahead with a 22-9 run, establishing a comfortable lead.

Hayden Morin displayed exceptional shooting, leading St. Thomas with 24 points, including six three-pointers. Nia McGee flirted with a double-double performance, recording 5 points and 12 rebounds. Macie Whitfield added 13 points, showcasing the team's offensive versatility.

St. Thomas dominated on the boards, with a total of 51 rebounds compared to Birmingham Southern's 38. Ravyn Ellis and Jeci Gonzalez were crucial in this effort, collecting 8 and 7 rebounds, respectively.

Birmingham Southern faced challenges with their shooting accuracy, managing only 20.3% from the field. Maya Cable led their scoring efforts with 14 points, but St. Thomas' defense limited their overall offensive output.
