Women's Basketball Defeats Birmingham Southern, 93-78

The Celts would storm past Birmingham Southern University after their best offensive output of the season. Outscoring the Panthers in every single period, St. Thomas would cruise to a 93-78 victory.

A season-high six Celts would reach double-digit scoring in this contest. As a whole, St. Thomas would shoot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc.

Eneily Rodriguez would pace the Celts in scoring with 16 points. She would go five-for-six from the field and nail all six of her free throws. Rodriguez would also collect seven rebounds to compliment her two steals. Olivia Anga would record a double-double in this contest, finishing with 15 points on six of fourteen shooting and 12 rebounds. Freshman Nia McGee would have her best performance of the season, flirting with a double-double, logging 12 points with nine boards. Micayla Hamilton would stuff the stat sheet in her 32 minutes of action. The junior guard would have 10 points, nine rebounds and six assists and a pair of steals. Going a perfect four-for-four from the field would be Ce'Briaya Bell. Bell would record a season-high 10 points and grab five rebounds off the bench.

In a high scoring first quarter, the Celts would have to post seven unanswered points in order to take control late in the opening frame. With both offenses still clicking, St. Thomas would find themselves trailing by one at the midway point of the second quarter. However, in the final five minutes of play, they would stifle the Panthers and outscore them 18-4 to regain the lead heading into the break.

For the remainder of the game, St. Thomas would weather all pressure applied from Birmingham Southern. Every shot that seemed to sway momentum towards the Panthers would quickly be answered by the hot-shooting Celts.

The Celts advance to 2-2 overall on the season. They will return to action next weekend, November 27th in Kerrville, Texas for yet another tournament. St. Thomas will open up with Howard Payne, followed by Sul Ross State.
