Baseball Splits Final Day With Austin College

On the final day of their Regular season, baseball split the day against the Austin College Roos. 

Game 1: UST 11 AC 1

St. Thomas (Tex.) dominated Austin in a commanding 11-1 victory in their recent baseball clash.

The home team wasted no time asserting their dominance, jumping to a commanding lead in the early innings. In the first inning, Erik Garza ignited the offense with a triple to left center, bringing in Kyle Bearden and Mason Seay. Dylan Lamb continued the onslaught with a single to left field, plating Garza and extending St. Thomas's lead to 3-0.

St. Thomas added to their lead in the second inning with a sacrifice fly from Bearden, scoring Israel Fields. Seay then smashed a double to left field, driving in Alex Trinh and pushing the lead to 5-0.

In the third inning, Trinh delivered a triple to center field, bringing home Fields and Armando Rocha. Bearden followed up with another sacrifice fly, scoring Trinh and extending the lead to 8-0.

St. Thomas didn't let up in the fourth inning. Rocha hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Dillon McKee to score. Trinh then singled to center field, bringing in Jarod Smith. Bearden closed out the scoring for the inning with another sacrifice fly, scoring Smith and pushing the lead to 11-0.

Austin managed to get on the scoreboard in the fifth inning when Tino Ramirez singled to right field, bringing in Greg Smith.

St. Thomas's pitcher, Kadin Munson, turned in a stellar performance, going the distance while allowing just one run on five hits. Munson struck out eight batters and kept Austin's offense in check throughout the game.

St. Thomas (Tex.)'s dominant offensive performance combined with Munson's strong outing on the mound secured their convincing victory over Austin.

Game 2: UST 5 AC 7

Austin took control early, putting up four runs in the second inning to take a commanding lead. Brandon Hill kicked off the scoring with a triple to left center, driving in Scott Hosmer and Mason Woodhouse. Greg Smith followed up with a single to left center, bringing home Hill. RayShawn Riley added to the lead with a single to left field, scoring Tino Ramirez.

Austin continued to extend their lead in the third inning when Scott Hosmer scored on a wild pitch.

St. Thomas fought back, scoring a run in the fourth inning when Dylan Lamb crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

In the fifth inning, St. Thomas added two more runs to their tally. Alex Trinh scored on a sacrifice by Armando Rocha, and Kyle Bearden came home on a single by Dylan Lamb.

St. Thomas narrowed the gap even further in the sixth inning, with AJ Gonzales driving in Dillon McKee with a single to right field. Jarod Smith then scored on a fielder's choice by Armando Rocha.

Despite St. Thomas's late-game surge, Austin managed to hold on to their lead and secure the victory.

Both teams put up a strong fight, but in the end, it was Austin who came out on top in this thrilling baseball matchup.
