Celts Drop Series to Hendrix

Celts Drop Series to Hendrix

After a high-scoring game three where the Celts were edged late in the contest, they would drop the series finale to Hendrix, 5-0

Game Three: UST-8  Hendrix-10

After struggling on offense in the first two games, the Celts would erupt for eight runs in game three. Tristan Pitkin would get the action started in the opening frame with an RBI which scored Kyle Bearden. St. Thomas would stay hot early, putting up a pair of runs in the third inning to expand their lead three. Bearden would record his first of two RBIs in the game with a double to left center. Leo Galvan would soon drive Bearden in with his single to right field.

Hendrix wouldn't go away, cutting their deficit to one after plating two runs in the bottom half of the third. The Celts, however, would fend off the Warriors and replenish their lead wth a Hunter Pachal sacrifice fly to right field, bringinig in Dylan Lamb.

The hot-hitting Warriors would take the lead for the first time in the fourth with a two-run output. The Celts would continue to answer and this time in a big way. Throughout the next two innings they would score three runs, in part to Tristan Pitkin, Leo Galvan and Kyle Bearden's RBIs.

Unfortunately, Hendrix would erase the Celts' lead in the bottom of the seventh and would eventually build a lead of their own in the eighth to shut the door on St. Thomas.

Game Four: UST-0  Hendrix-5

In the series finale, the Celts' bats would cool off, only supplying three hits in the contest. Hendrix would have small spurts of scoring the in the second and third innings, resulting in a five-run hole for St. Thomas. The batting woes for the Celts would remain constant through the seven-inning battle as they struggled to spark a comeback.

Myles Simmons would be called from the bullpen in the third inning and would go on to finish the game. Simmons would only allow one hit in 3.1 innings pitched while recording two strikeouts.

The Celts are back in action March 9th when they travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana to take on Nicholls State.
