Baseball Powers Past Southwestern, 10-7

Baseball Powers Past Southwestern, 10-7

UST Baseball claimed their 12th win of the year with a 10-7 victory over Southwestern.

It was a three-run first inning homerun by Caleb Edmonds that opened things up for the Celts. With the 3-0 advantage, UST was able to ease into game and rely on their defense until the fourth inning when they would plate three more runs. After walking in a run, Jason Brown would step into the box with the bases load. A 2 RBI single to left field would push the Celts' lead to six.

Southwestern wouldn't go away that easy, searching for some late-inning heroics. In the bottom of the seventh, they would score four runs, while the Celts would cycle through three pitchers to weather the Pirate's momentum.

In the top of the ninth, UST created some breathing room with a four-run inning to extend their lead back to six. A Parker Edwards 2 RBI double would take the life out of the Pirates and allow the Celts to secure their first ever conference victory.

UST will finish their series with Southwestern tomorrow with a doubleheader.
