Baseball Powers Past Schreiner, 14-2

Baseball Powers Past Schreiner, 14-2

UST Baseball opened their final series with an 14-2, run-rule victory over Schreiner.

The Celts were able to jump out on the Mountaineers, scoring 12 unanswered runs in the first three innings.  It was an explosive nine-run third inning that busted the game wide-open. With the bases load, Hunter Pachal would single to centerfield to kick off the scoring. RBIs from Parker Edwards, Kyle Bearden and Leo Galvan would ensue as the Celts frustrated the Mountaineer pitching staff. Schreiner would walk home three runs this inning allowing UST to nearly bat through their entire lineup.

Schreiner would cover a run in the top of the fifth frame, but a Caleb Edmonds homerun to deep left center would close the door on the Mountaineers. For good measures, Edwards would crush a homerun of his own to extend their lead to 12.

Luke Sebesta pitched a complete game, while striking out three batters and allowing just six hits. This was freshman's first career win on the bump.

The Celts will conclude their series with Schreiner tomorrow at 1:00 and 4:00
