Game One

The Celts late rally fell short in game one of Saturday's double-header against the Trinity Tigers. It was a tough outing for UST, finishing the game with only five hits. But the Celts made the most of their opportunities and scored seven runs.

A sac-fly from Hunter Pachal put the Celts on the board in the bottom of the second inning, making the score 2-1. Trinity would add another run in the top of the third but the Celts responded with their highest scoring inning of the day, batting in three runs in the bottom of the inning. A two-run RBI double from Caleb Edmonds tied the game up at 3-3 and an RBI single from Parker Edwards gave the Celts their only lead of the game at 4-3.

The Tigers would proceed to put up five straight runs over the next three innings and take a commanding 8-4 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. On the first pitch of the inning, Leo Galvan hit a solo home run to left field and brought the deficit to only three runs. But the Celts could not build on to this momentum and it would be their only run in the inning. The Tigers responded with two runs of their own in the seventh and the Celts would find themselves down 10-5. 

St. Thomas would score two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run RBI double from Noah Martinez in one final attempt to rally, but those would be the final runs of the game and they would lose the second game of the matchup by a final score of 10-7.

Game Two

In the highest scoring game of a series, the Celts couldn't capitalize late and would fall to Trinity University. 

After falling behind by one run early, Caleb Edmonds knotted things up with an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Trinity would answer, regaining the lead the next inning. However, UST poured in five runs in the bottom of the second to grab a four-run lead. RBI's from Kyle Bearden, Jason Brown, and Caleb Edmonds drove in three of the five runs in the inning, the other two coming on a wild pitch and a stolen base. The Tigers wouldn't go away, responding with their own five run-inning to steal momentum from the Celts.

This wouldn't last long as a Caleb Edmonds 2 RBI single drove in the  equalizing and tie-breaking run. The Celts would build onto this lead in the fifth after an RBI from Hunter Pachal. UST's 10-7 lead would slowly vanish over the next few innings and they would soon find themselves trailing 13-10 heading into the bottom of the ninth.

With daylight running out, Trinity purposely would give themselves the final two outs in the top of the ninth and would press their luck with a hot-hitting UST team. With momentum fully behind the Celts, they would cut the deficit to one and have the bases loaded with two outs. However, the Tigers were able to get out of the jam and earn the victory.
