Baseball Falls 15-3 to UMHB

The baseball clash between Mary Hardin-Baylor and St. Thomas (Tex.) on February 27, 2024, saw Mary Hardin-Baylor dominate with a commanding 15-3 victory.

St. Thomas got off to a promising start in the first inning when Alex Trinh singled to right field, bringing in Kyle Bearden. However, Mary Hardin-Baylor quickly responded in the second inning with Rhett Grosz launching a home run, tying the game 1-1. They continued their offensive onslaught, with Carson Riley singling to center field, driving in Kaden deBerardinis, giving Mary Hardin-Baylor a 2-1 lead.

In the third inning, Mary Hardin-Baylor brought in more runs and extending their lead to 6-1.

The fourth and fifth innings saw Mary Hardin-Baylor capitalize on errors, walks, and passed balls, adding more runs to their lead and putting the game out of reach for St. Thomas.

St. Thomas managed to rally in the sixth inning with Dax Massengale singling to right field, bringing in two runs, but it wasn't enough to overcome Mary Hardin-Baylor's substantial lead.

Mary Hardin-Baylor sealed their victory in the seventh inning when Kyle Hogwood doubled to left field, driving in another run and solidifying their dominance with a final score of 15-3.

Keegan Symons pitched effectively for Mary Hardin-Baylor, allowing only one run over five innings, while Sebastian Soliz struggled on the mound for St. Thomas, giving up six runs in just 2.2 innings.
