Baseball Drops Game 1 to Centenary 4-2

In a gripping clash at Constellation Field, Centenary (La.) emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over St. Thomas (Tex.) in a battle of baseball titans.

The contest began with both teams locked in a defensive struggle, but Centenary managed to break the deadlock in the second inning when Collin Pitts sacrificed a fly to left field, allowing Austyn Benoit to dash home, putting Centenary ahead 1-0.

In the third inning, Centenary extended their lead with a powerful swing from Alex Miller, who smashed a two-run homer, bringing Clay Menard across the plate and stretching their lead to 3-0.

St. Thomas rallied in the third inning, with Dillon McKee drawing a walk, bringing Alex Trinh home and narrowing the gap to 3-1.

As tensions mounted in the final frame, Centenary added an insurance run when Andrew Landry capitalized on a passed ball, scoring and pushing their lead to 4-1.

St. Thomas fought back valiantly in the ninth inning, with Kyle Bearden's clutch single to left field bringing in Aryan Chopra, but it wasn't enough to overcome Centenary's lead as they secured the hard-fought victory.

Cody Myers delivered a standout performance on the mound for Centenary, pitching 8.1 solid innings with 13 strikeouts to earn the win, while Jacob Broussard closed out the game to seal the win and pick up the save.

Despite the loss, St. Thomas showcased resilience and determination throughout the game, setting the stage for an exciting rematch in the future.
