Celts Secure Sweep Over Dallas with 4-0 Win

In a commanding performance, St. Thomas (Tex.) secured a 4-0 victory over Dallas in a softball matchup on April 7, 2024.

St. Thomas wasted no time asserting dominance, scoring two runs in the opening inning. Rebecca Archibald ignited the offense with a leadoff double, eventually coming home on Chloe Bennett's single through the left side. Jaelyn Simmons then showcased her speed, stealing home to extend St. Thomas' lead to 2-0.

The momentum continued for St. Thomas in the second inning when Archibald struck again, this time with a double to left center, driving in Gabby Davila and pushing the lead to 3-0.

St. Thomas added another run in the third inning as Bennett grounded out to shortstop, allowing Simmons to score, making it 4-0.

Dallas struggled to generate offense throughout the game, managing only two hits against St. Thomas' pitching. Allison Hughes pitched a gem for St. Thomas, tossing a complete game shutout while striking out seven batters.

Ava Trevino started on the mound for Dallas, but she faced a tough St. Thomas lineup, giving up three runs in two innings. Julia Kruse came in relief, allowing one more run over four innings of work.

Despite their efforts, Dallas couldn't overcome St. Thomas' early lead and solid pitching, resulting in a shutout loss on the road.

St. Thomas' balanced performance both offensively and defensively earned them a well-deserved victory, maintaining their strong form in the season.
