26 Hits Powers Celts to Series Win Over Trinity

In a doubleheader against SCAC foe Trinity, St. Thomas exploded for 26 total hits on the afternoon to power past the Tigers. With these two wins, St. Thomas improved to 5-1 in SCAC play.

Game 1: UST 6 TU 1

St. Thomas wasted no time asserting their presence, scoring three runs in the opening inning. Chloe Bennett ignited the offense with a single, advancing to second on a throwing error, allowing Rebecca Archibald to cross the plate. Isabelle Charles then delivered a clutch single, driving in two more runs.

The momentum continued in the second inning as Jaelyn Simmons added another run with an RBI single, extending the lead to 4-0. Bennett came through again with another RBI single, bringing the lead to 5-0.

Trinity managed to get on the board in the fourth inning, but it wasn't enough to slow down St. Thomas. Marina Delaluna stole home for Trinity's lone run of the game.

St. Thomas solidified their victory in the fifth inning as Archibald recorded another RBI single, securing a comfortable 6-1 lead.

Allison Hughes delivered a stellar performance on the mound for St. Thomas, allowing only one run on five hits while striking out two batters.

Game 2: UST 7 TU 5

Trinity got off to a strong start in the first inning, capitalizing on opportunities to take an early 3-0 lead. Hannah Boudreaux drove in Samantha Tagawa with a single, followed by Carsyn Lee's single that led to two unearned runs due to a fielding error.

St. Thomas battled back in the fourth inning, sparked by Mallarie Munson's single, which resulted in a run due to a fielding error. Isabelle Charles then reached on an error, driving in another unearned run, followed by Lindsey Gonzalez's RBI single to tie the game at 3-3.

Trinity briefly regained the lead in the fifth inning with Peyton Bowser's RBI double, making it 4-3.

However, St. Thomas mounted a remarkable comeback in the seventh inning. Celeste Luna's single, coupled with a throwing error, allowed two runs to score, putting St. Thomas ahead 5-4. Jaelyn Simmons added an insurance run with an RBI single, and Chloe Bennett drove in another run before being thrown out at second base, extending the lead to 7-4.

Trinity fought back in the bottom of the seventh, scoring a run on Bowser's RBI single, but St. Thomas held on for the 7-5 victory.

Victoria Sossaman pitched a solid game for St. Thomas, going the distance and allowing just two earned runs on ten hits while striking out four.
