Celts Fall 2-1 to TLU Bulldogs

Celts Fall 2-1 to TLU Bulldogs

In a tense softball matchup, Texas Lutheran narrowly edged past St. Thomas (Tex.) with a final score of 2-1.

The game started as a defensive battle, with both teams unable to score through the first two innings. However, Texas Lutheran broke the deadlock in the top of the second inning. Bella Rodriguez reached base on a fielder's choice, driving in Mia Landry for the first run of the game. Later in the inning, Linzee Leal grounded out to second base, allowing Reagan Hillis to score, extending Texas Lutheran's lead to 2-0.

St. Thomas fought back in the bottom of the sixth inning. Mallarie Munson delivered a crucial hit, blasting a double to left field and bringing home Haley Lupian, narrowing the deficit to 2-1.

Despite St. Thomas's late rally, Texas Lutheran's pitching held firm, securing the narrow victory. Ashlyn Strother pitched a stellar game, going the distance and allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out three.

Allison Hughes pitched admirably for St. Thomas, allowing only two runs on six hits across seven innings of work. However, the offense couldn't muster enough runs to overcome Texas Lutheran's early lead.
