Leslie Bennett joined the University of St. Thomas as the Head Athletic Trainer in August of 2016 in charge of the care of UST’s athletic teams. In the Fall of 2020, Bennett was promoted to the Director of Sports Medicine. Bennett covers Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men's and Women's Swimming, Softball, Tennis, and Golf. In her role she is responsible for the evaluation of injuries, overseeing treatment and rehabilitation, coordination of physician care and contributing to the prevention and education of our student athlete population. She also serves as a clinical preceptor for the University of Houston Master's of Athletic Training Program. In addition, Bennett and her team are service instructors in CPR and First Aid. 

Bennett earned a B.S. in Athletic Training from Texas State University in May of 2009. Shortly thereafter she joined Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Team as an Outreach Athletic Trainer. 

In October 2009, Bennett became the Head Athletic Trainer at Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, Texas, and shaped their Sports Medicine Department with establishing policies and safety procedures, designing and furnishing of their new athletic training facility and concussion training of their coaches. She also established their Sports Medicine Student Athletic Training program. In coordination with Memorial Hermann, Bennett served as the Athletic Training liaison for Fort Bend Youth Football League, Eclipse Soccer Club, and Fort Bend Fit Running Group. Along with the Outreach Team she assisted in conducting talks, seminars, student trainer education and assisted in working events such as the IRONMAN Triathlon, USA Fit Marathon, and Andy's Triathlon. 

Bennett is a national certified athletic trainer and a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Texas. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association, Greater Houston Athletic Trainer's Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority.
