Tyler Dawson will be entering his third full season as an assistant coach on the University of St. Thomas men’s basketball staff. During his two seasons at UST, the team has a combined 34-7 overall record while winning the 2021 SCAC Conference Tournament Championship and the 2022-23 SCAC Regular Season Championship. His primary focuses are team offensive / defense, player recruiting, opponent scouting, and basketball operations. Prior to becoming an assistant coach at the University of St. Thomas, Tyler earned his Bachelors in Kinesiology & Health from the University of Texas - Austin, while serving as a student-manager for the men’s basketball team for one season. He then went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a Masters in Finance. As a player, Tyler was a three year starter, two-time all district guard, and 1,200 point scorer at Oak Ridge High School. Tyler also coaches and helps run BackCourt Hoops, an AAU program in The Woodlands, Texas.
