Men's Golf Finishes Top 4 at Ca State Invitational

Men's Golf would leave California taking fourth place at the Cal State Invitational. The Celts were led by Jonathan Miller and Cade Kiser, who tied for 5th and 8th individually across the board. 

St. Thomas would flirt for the lead on day one. At the end of round two, they were tied for second place, shooting one under par as a team heading into the final round. Deadlocked with Cal Lutheran, the Celts would have their hands full for the top spot. After a combined team score of 866 at the end of the tournament, the Celts would finish fourth place.  

Jonathan Miller would finish tied for 5th place, carding six under par and an impressive 68 in the final round. Cade Kiser was not far behind shooting four under par and securing an 8th place finish. Patrick Smetek would have a place 29th carding five over but have a fantastic day one carding 70 and 72. Providing consistent gameplay for St Thomas was Cameron Curtis would shot 74, 75, and 76 across all three rounds. Finally, Jackson Murff would use his impressive rounds one and three to propel St Thomas to 4th place. 

"The team played really hard this week, and we were very competitive throughout," Head Coach Billy Tuten said. "I was very proud of our effort and we had some very good individual performances also. It was a good start to the season."

Men's Golf hits the links again on October 3rd for the Tempest Incollegiate in Gladewater, Texas.
