Men's Golf opened their spring season at the Houston Classic at the Houston Golf Club in Humble, Texas. After day one and 36 holes of golf, St. Thomas currently sits in 12th place in a field of 14 NCAA Division II teams.
Cade Kiser leads the way for the Celts sitting at 10 over par after an impressive day one performance. Through the first round Kiser shot a team-best 79 and would shoot even lower in the second round, carding a 75. Only one stroke behind Kiser is Jonathan Miller, who would nearly replicated the leader's performance. Henry Phavorachit ranks tied for 58th overall after day one, shooting an 81 and an 80 while Patrick Smetek, who displayed some nifty putting, sits at 69th overall. Rounding out the top five for the Celts is Greg Dupont, who shot 14 over in the first round but improved his score with an 82 in round two.
The Houston Classic continues today as the golfers will conclude the tournament with 18 holes.
